Website's Assessment
Website’s
Assessment
As of September 2020, there are 1,196,298,727
websites on the Internet. But do all the creators of those sites know how to
evaluate their own portal site? Or do all of those sites are created by a human?
Many people don't have an idea about how a website can be evaluated, right? So
now, I’ll let you know a few things about it. Let’s get started.
Homepage
A homepage is the first thing you see when you open a website, also called a website's doorstep. Your visitors don’t like
a messy web page with so many ads and clickbait viruses, so make sure to
secure your website. Choose a color palette that suits all eyes. Always open
your website to the public, you never know. The simpler, the better.
Navigation Map
Navigation Map is where your visitors locate
themselves inside your website. You are obligated to make this part very clear
or else you’ll confuse your visitors, make sure to give importance to this.
Attractors
Attractors are the so-called online ads. These
things can pull visitors onto your website. Make it very persuasive and ensure
that when people see it, they will be electronically attracted to your portal
site. For your information, these things actually work, especially when you have a talent for persuading people.
And lastly, the 5 major things to
evaluate in a website:
·
Authority – by this trait you can identify who is/are the
author of a website. Sometimes, the TLD or top-level domain of a portal site is
different from others like .edu, .coop, .biz, .aero. That means that a website
represents a company, school, social artist, etc. It is very important to
recognize a database so that you can assess it better.
·
Objectivity – by this trait you can observe what the
objective of a website is. Web sites can be for academic purposes such as Wikipedia,
their intention is to help students in their studies and researchers in
their research. It is very important to find the objective of forums because
some people visit websites for a significant cause.
·
Accuracy – by this trait you can point out any typographical errors, wrong use in grammar, incorrect spellings on a website.
Authors must do proofreading thrice so that they’re sure about the facts they
are giving their readers or else they will be criticized and nobody will trust
his/her/their work. It is very important to check this even if you are a reader
or an author.
· Currency – this trait you will know if the facts in a website are up-to-date and precise. Authors are committed to ensuring their timeliness in terms of details like articles, population, and weather. It is very important for a reader to be observant and not to completely rely on the website’s data. But the author is the one who really needs to update it and guarantee the currency of a topic or news.
· Coverage – by this trait you will know the target audience of a website. Some databases are not suitable for young ages and that’s why they have this in an evaluation. Parents really need to ensure their child is unable to open these kinds of websites because it might result in traumas, curiosity about some sexual topic, and as well as cursing. The author must really check if the privacy of their website suits every target audience and if not, certify that the facts suit all ages.
Web sites are not harmful if you analyze them and think outside the box. The authors also have feelings
so don’t criticize them harshly and do it for their own good then improve it.
Readers must be very careful and observant concerning this kind of sensitive
topic because you might misuse it. Always remember to read between the lines in
terms of websites’ texts because authors might have some hidden meaning. Don’t
forget to THINK before you CLICK.
